Conceived as an inclusive event for all ages and literary inclinations, Bookstock will feature performances, lectures, workshops, participatory poetry events and readings for children and adults from Friday evening through Saturday evening.
The Festival is also designed as a book browser and buyer's nirvana: a mammoth book sale combining the North Universalist Chapel Society's annual World's Greatest Book Sale with The Norman Williams Library summer book sale will offer tens of thousands of used books for sale. Several nationally recognized writers will participate, along with others familiar to Vermonters. All Bookstock offerings will be free of charge and open to the public.
The following programs are slated to occur at various sites including the Town Hall Theatre, Woodstock Elementary School, The Little Theater, Norman Williams Library, Woodstock Inn, Woodstock Green, Woodstock History Center--venues that are all accessible to people with disabilities and within easy walking distance of each other:

Bookstock is created and orchestrated by a partnership of five local nonprofits: the North Universalist Chapel Society, Norman Williams Public Library, Pentangle Arts Council, Woodstock Historical Society, and the Thompson Senior Center Center--each of whom are donating time, expertise and resources to ensure the success of the Festival's planning and implementation.
Conceived in recognition of the region's rich literary endowment of gifted writers and avid readers, Bookstock is endorsed by Woodstock's three independent bookstores. Bookstock will also serve as a showcase for regional publishers. Numerous local presses and literature-related organizations--including Harbor Mountain Press, Tupelo Press, Thistle Hill, Nomad Communications, University Press of New England, Center for Cartoon Studies, Countryman Press, and the Children's Literacy Foundation--will participate as exhibitors.
